SELLING TO
BIG BUSINESS & GOVERNMENT

What if the Government could use your products or services? What about Big Business? How do you sell to them? Selling to the Government is an effective way to grow your business.

CONSIDERATIONS FOR

Selling to the Government and Getting Certified

Selling to the Government

Government agencies and large corporations buy the same types of things most businesses do:

  • Professional Services
  • Supplies
  • Landscaping Services
  • and More…

Often, they also support businesses in gaining certifications for women-, veteran- and minority-owned businesses, but selling to government agencies has its challenges.
That’s where Hawai’i Procurement Technical Assistance Center (HI-PTAC) comes into play. HI-PTAC offices provide small businesses with assistance in submitting and understanding bidding opportunities and contracts.

Becoming Certified

Certification programs can help you market your business to both large businesses and governments. Many large corporations and governmental entities set aside a percentage of their purchasing contracts for small businesses, minority and/or women-owned businesses. MWBE.com offers a description of certification.

Certification can take from 30-90 days. Start the process today by connecting with Hawaiʻi Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Program.
